On October 5, 2023, we will host the workshop on "'''Linked Open and FAIR Data Challenges for Exploiting Patent Knowledge in Science'''". The workshop is part of the [https://www.dfg.de/en/research_funding/programmes/infrastructure/lis/funding_opportunities/e-research_technologies/index.html DFG-funded] research project [https://www.fiz-karlsruhe.de/en/forschung/patents4science-aufbau-einer-informationsinfrastruktur-zur-nutzung-von-patentwissen-der Patents4Science].

In the context of the workshop, on the one hand, current developments and technologies in the areas of knowledge modeling, linked data and text analysis for the extraction, enrichment and linking of patent information with scientific literature and other (domain-specific) information sources will be presented and, on the other hand, the current status and the needs of scientists in using with patent information in application-oriented research (e.g. plasma technology, additive manufacturing) will be discussed.

Main topics include the use Linked Open Data and domain-specific ontologies for establishing semantic access to patent data, AI methods for patent retrieval and analysis, and knowledge graphs for modeling and accessing patent and scientific information.

'''Project Patents4Science''':

* In "Patents4Science", a new and innovative information infrastructure (P4SI) for the use of patent knowledge in science and research is being developed.  The P4SI is intended to enable simple, efficient and sustainable access to patents and the knowledge they contain based on Linked Open and FAIR data principles. For this purpose, the contents of patents will be semantically indexed and interoperably linked with scientific literature and other domain-specific knowledge sources in a patent-centric knowledge graph (Patent Knowledge Graph).

1st Workshop on Linked Open and FAIR Data Challenges for Exploiting Patent Knowledge in Science

Location: Berlin, Leibniz-Gemeinschaft, Chaussee Straße 111, 10115 Berlin

On October 5, 2023, we will host the workshop on "Linked Open and FAIR Data Challenges for Exploiting Patent Knowledge in Science". The workshop is part of the DFG-funded research project Patents4Science.

Project Patents4Science:

  • In "Patents4Science", a new and innovative information infrastructure (P4SI) for the use of patent knowledge in science and research is being developed.
